Basically Intel Gfx cards don`t work under Windows 7 very well when using Anim8or. I have had a Lenovo Laptop with an Intel Gfx card with the very latest drivers and it refuses to run, and I have been trying on and off for over a year to get it to run without any success. I have tried Compatibility settings Virtual drives etc so they are of no use whatsoever.

My feeling is to steer clear of any intel based laptops if you want anim8or to work.Check out the specs before buying especially the Gfx card

I have a Dell Inspiron Laptop with ATI Gfx card running 64BIT Windows7 HP,and that runs no problem, as well as a Desktop using an Nvidia Geforce Gfx card under Windows7 Ultimate.

I would suspect you or I, will never get it to run ( but if you do then please let us know!!)

Microsoft has a free virtual PC software download that supposedly installs a working copy of the XP OS somewhere in W7. Have you tried that?

'Windows XP mode' is a virtual machine provided by Microsoft and is, as you rightly state, not available on Home Premium.  However, Virtual Box and VMware are free, downloadable virtual machines that have nothing to do with Microsoft and work on W7, irrespective of the version you are running.  Honest.  Google is your friend.

PS: I cannot guarantee that this will fix your problem but as they are free downloads surely it's worth a try.  Also, you'll need a copy of XP to load to the virtual machine.

You might also want to check for updated drivers on MS's site using the utilties under my computer>hardware and updating as many system drivers as possible. Intel is on a lot of systems, so I would imagine that MS will address the major issues gathered based on error reporting feedback sent to them; I've had several issues resolved in the past by just sending in the reports and getting directed to 3rd party sites that have solutions available. It also makes me wonder if a command line directive can be set in the icon short cut to force W7 to change the way that the OS interacts with a 32bit app like Anim8or?

All my drivers are up to date. I do not trust unauthorized software, and Compatibility mode and all that wont work!

VMware is totally trustworthy, been around for ages and running without a hitch on my machine (my scanner won't run on W7 and HP won't update the driver.. grrrr).  Obviously I would recommend backing up and setting a restore point before downloading it, that's a no-brainer for pretty much anything you install, 'authorised' or not.  It's probably also worth mentioning that technically Anim8or isn't 'authorised' for MS OS either, neither is Terranim8or, Virtual Dub, Lithunwrap...

111dav12, I'm not sure there's much else that the community can suggest that hasn't already been suggested in this thread.  Sorry the community hasn't been able to resolve your problem, it could be that there is just no way to run Anim8or with your OS/GPU setup.

I meant to say unauthorized software I've never used before.
