1111dav12, please provide more information so that we can try to identify the problem. Tell us exactly what happens when you try to run Anim8or. Tell us what version of Anim8or you're using. Give us your computer specs such as your graphics card, processor, memory.

Make sure the file has been extracted from the .zip file first before executing it. Make sure your graphics card drivers are completely up to date.

Anim8or shows up in the task manager, and then disappears. I use an eMachines Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit  using a Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU T4500 2.30 GHz 2.30GHz processor with 2 GB of ram with a Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family graphics card and all my drivers are up to date.

Woah hey, cool your shoes.

Intel Graphics Chipsets don't seem to like Anim8or very much, and could be the cause of your problems. Either that or it's another program such as your antivirus that could be getting in the way. If you run Windows in safe mode and try running Anim8or, more than likely it will work.

A few topics that might interest you. You may have to rollback to older drivers, or triple check that your current drivers are actually up-to-date. Also, run the Intel INF Utility.

Try setting your display settings to 16 bit. I had to do this under Windows ME to get Anim8or to display stuff correctly. Right the desktop and select properties under settings Color Quality set it to 16 bit. Hope it works the same in W7.

Try visiting this link> http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/default.aspx It looks like a free MS application for getting 32 bit application that won't run under W7 to help get them running again using older legacy drivers and such. Let us know if it works as eventaully we'll all be forced to use a newer OS like W7.

I'm using 7-64 and the only problem I get is some artifacting with the selection tool.  Nothing that affects the functionality, so the OS probably isn't the issue.

If all else fails, there's always the option of running it through a virtual machine (Virtual box).

If you can get hold of a copy of XP, download VMware (free and better than the virtual mode supplied with higher versions of W7 anyway) and install XP on it.  Having said that, the fault you describe does not really sound like a compatibility issue, as Raxx suggested it might be caused by your antivirus software.  I would advise a fresh download of Anim8or, disconnect from the web, switch off all AV software and try running it.

I'll go ahead and mention glDirect here as well, in case it's not the antivirus or some other program. No guarantees it'll work, and it's not really a fix, but I used it in the past with Intel and Vista issues and got somewhat tolerable results. Ultimately I installed XP on a separate partition and used that instead.

There is something you can try, called GLDirect, that basically converts the opengl draw commands to directx, which may allow you to see what's going on. Basically:

1) Install it
2) Restart Windows (you may get some .sys error messages after rebooting)
3) Set the SciTech GLDirect Configuration program to Win 98 compatibility
4) Run it, save the settings
5) Open up Anim8or and see if it worked.

What do you mean by .sys errors? Does it break my PC?

Not at all. I had tested it recently prior to giving out the instructions. The .sys files seem to be dependent files relied on by the wrapper, and so you need to set the compatibility so that they get utilized properly.
