Uvmapping and unWrapping with Roadkill
« on: September 25, 2012, 03:07:50 am »

This as always bugged me!.... never had the time to sit and go through the art of doing an unwrap with any program lithunwrap etc. So I finally got down to it the other night, after an Anim8orWorld Member asked about the process.

So I got Roadkill and had a go, in fact it was suprisingly easier than I thought!

Here is the link to the Tutorial.

You can also use Truespace 7.61 or the TS 6.6 UV tools to edit and create maps on model in various formats like 3DS, OBJ, Direct-X, etc. The tools in TS are pretty basic though.

I know of uvmapper, but never heard of roadkill, from a simple google search it seems more powerful, easier, and free(?).

HaHa! how long have you been messing about with Anim8or?

Roadkill is good, however, You will still need to load the saved roadkill object produced, say into Uvmapper to get the template, but that is explained within the Tutorial. Yes it is free but has not been updated for ages!

I had enough of using that program some time ago!, far too much work to generate anything and TBH the GUI was downright confusing, But obviously each to his own, once you get used to one program its hard to relate to another ( well at my age it is!) Anim8or and  Carrara are enough to keep me happy!
