Game Art (Testing Phase)
« on: November 21, 2010, 06:02:44 am »

Hello,

Well, I figured I would post this up and continue updating as I progress in my project.

Model: Anim8or (Cylinder, lol)

Texture: Paint.Net (Decked out with a slew of plugins)

Render: CrazyBump ("Print Screen" key is awesome)

A Fantasy Coin which is in it's "clean" state right now, until I go in and rough up the model to make it look like a rough, hammered out coin, not a clean looking fresh from the mint coin as it is right now. This was also my first experiment with Displacement and Occlusion mapping. Coin textures and sizes are not final, only testing as of now. Any tips you can give me are welcome.

The coin was based on many old world cultures and methods of coin making. The text around the coin don't mean anything, it's just gibberish. Not until I finally get around to making my own language to use on this stuff, however until then keyboard smashing is pretty fun too.

All of this stuff I will be making will hopefully be put into a game i'm in the process of starting. (Demon's Souls got me back into loving RPG's again, now I want to start making one now for some odd reason?)

Right now i'm working on random stuff to see if this will even be possible with my current talents.

*UPDATE*

OK, so tonight I was trying something new! Sculpting up some bricks individually and make a tillable brick wall texture. After a couple of texture tests first I got the concept down pat and went ahead and sculpted a couple bricks.

Models: Sculptris (A FREE version of ZBrush! GET IT!) http://www.sculptris.com/

Additional: Anim8or (Starting model for sculpting, arranging finished bricks in a pattern, cutting a block in two for tilability, and then a basic top down render for the height map. Phew!)

Textures: Paint.Net (Cleaning up Height Map, fixing some problems in the Height Map)

Render: CrazyBump (Print Screen)

Just another test as I only modeled 3 bricks and just did some simple 90° flips and arranging the bricks in an order which they don't appear to be the same bricks over and over. When I make the real texture, after I get better at using Sculptris, i'll make about 8-10 bricks for texture size and tiling reasons.

Polygons: 12
