æwakened
« on: May 12, 2010, 12:04:21 am »

Well, I know I have another thread running, and I haven't given up that project, but I am starting this thread because I want to work on some techniques and experiments that aren't involved with the Corporal Cosmic project... Namely water-type effects.

Some of you may have seen Eric Aug's and my www.aewakened.com "under construction" website. Well, I have a video idea that is tied in with that, involving images and material I will be showing here.

The eye started on the other thread, but the creature I am making right now is for this other project, I'm kicking it off here.

Attaching a bit of progress on the "Star Spawn"... if anyone has a clue as to what that is... ;)  Yes, it may look a lot like an octopus, but that's because they do have something in common.

Another element of the video... some may have seen this before. It's a mini-sub I had begun to make long ago.  Anyway, I am cleaning it up and finishing it for use again.

Also, while I work on the fancy and finished product models, I am making a mock-up of the video using rough and basic shapes to get the animation sequences in order... see here: youtube.com/watch?v=TIHStE2EZmg]http://www.

Thanks for the sub-comments, guys.  I originally made that sub about two years ago when this video idea first came to mind. I love underwater scenes, and researched a number of different mini-subs to come up with the idea. I still have to do the interior and include a pilot, of course.

Here I've replaced the old basic shape with the proper sub model for the "descent" video... youtube.com/watch?v=oxW_7FXP6ms]http://www.

Now working on a boat for the surface view.

by the way; how come you use the letter "æ" instead of an "a" ?

well... The idea has several meanings to it... one, the "æ" reflects an older style of English, and I liked the implication of there being the "awakening" of something old and forgotten.

The other reason, is that the "æwakened" concept is something put together by EricAug and myself... and it seemed a fun way to make the "Aric" (my real name's spelling) and "Eric" partnership.

Also, if we ever finish the website, there's a promo video that will play, utilizing the "finished product" that looks like is being assembled on the "Under Construction" site.

By the way, that little "Under Construction" site holder for www.aewakened.com is sort of fun. Eric made it, and you can click on it in different places and get little things to happen... just PLEASE don't crash it ;)

Waking up this old thread, because I'm back on the concept and working the promo/trailer/what-ever video... Going to get the final work animated in Messiah Studio 5, but modeling in Anim8or.... Here's a very-beginning render of one of the elements of the video... which will include the submersible mentioned previously, etc.

Obviously, a deep sea diver helm... with a little ominous content ;)  When finished it will be a complete suit, lying in the dark depths, encrusted with barnacles and the like.
