ART test render
« on: March 22, 2008, 05:05:42 am »

Reflections! Yay! Thats what we've been waiting for. Therefor I made a testrender of some headphones i modeled some time ago, with reflections using the new Art system.

I also used a cubic environment to simulate Hdri, I placed two planes with a white emessive value of 1 above the object so it looks like they are windows or something similar.

I am not happy about the shadows. I made the main shadow sharp because of render times, the render time now was 9,5 hours, I'm not sure how long that wouldve been if i made soft shadows.
Also , i had placed another light source on the other side, which i had set to not giving shadows, but it still does give a shadow unfortunately! Ah well.

I think this render looks a lot more professional than anim8or did before, the new reflections are a great addition! Some GI and it would look awsome! (but im not complaining ;) )

Thanks guys!

My computer is a amd athlon 5000+ core duo with 2 gb ram.. even though anim8or only uses one of them.. 9,5 hour is a bit much.. (i did have the aa on 36 subdivisions)

I'm sure there will be a whole new level of anim8or renders now! looking forward to seeing them all!

Congrats on finishing that cube animation mcheccyb, i saw it on the org forum!

Well, you were right, I couldn't get my render better ;)
I think you have a more direct light source which is working better for you.  Perhaps I should try that or something....
or I'll just move on :p
