« on: January 11, 2010, 09:11:33 am »

Hi Guys!! :)
i think then somebody has the same problem what me..
in moment of render fire/particles in RAYTRACE MODE.

Now i  show my way to render ok!

we need only make some ROTATIONS IN PARTICLES in SCENE MODE...

i hope help somebody ok! :D

PS: speaking on fire ... ::)

I sent  small video to YOUTUBE..
Rocket with fire - using RAYTRACER and Terranim8or Particle Trail..

i make only for test.

thanks! :)

Very interesting Neirao!  I wonder why exactly you have to rotate a number of the faces...  Perhaps it's the fact that they're overlapping originally?  Very strange, but I'm glad you found a workaround!

thanks hihosilver!

actually found that it was possible to happen ..
because I observed that in "particle trail" worked, but not in the "fire" ..
then I saw that the problem was the rotation of the particles

I think you will find the problem with them not rotated, is they are all on the same plane so you are getting problems with the display order of the transparancy. This work round is good as only other way is to make the all seperated in space.

i havent really ever used terrainim8or or cre8or. but i know that ahs 2 b one of the 2 ( or both). when i did use terrain8or i used it like 1 time and it came out like neiros 1st render so i never used it again.

if some1 who knows what neirao means can u plese clean up his english (sorry but i dont know enough about what your doing to understand well) and repost what he means. ive always wanted to make a realistic fire.

Neirao:  Good workaround and nice result for the fire.  As far as the rocket trail goes, a better result can be obtained if you apply 2 different materials i.e. fire and smoke.

Rellik420:  I think the graphics are pretty self explanatory.  However, I will try to explain it like this.

When we export the terranim8or fire project to an anim8or file, you get an object, which replicates itself into a number of copies in scene mode and all these objects move in a scripted manner in predefined paths to give us a flame effect.  However, if you look at the orientation and paths of these objects they move in one single plane only.  So, the trick is to alter the plane and orientation of these objects in scene mode by rotating them so that they do not move only in one plane, but rather scatter and overlap each other.

For interested viewers, here is my attempt at realistic fire some months back.

Good work, neirao!
Many years ago, when I made the fire/particle trail plug-ins for Terranim8or, Anim8or wasn't even close to having a raytracer. Having only scanline renderer, orienting the particles to face the camera was the most economic approach, using the minimum number of particles to create the effects.

@ Thanks Leslie!  :D(and thanks for Terranim8or!)!  Yes, but now then Anim8or has Raytracer,
is possible insert in FIRE PLUGIN a INPUT TEXT for WE TYPE THE variation of ORIENTATION "Y" and distance "Z" ??  ::)

Sure it would be possible! The problem is that I don't have the necessary time, not now and not in the forseeable future to work on Terranim8or. It would be also the technical problem that I used Visual Studio 2003 (which I don't have any more) to develop Terranim8or and the plug-ins. The whole project should be ported to an up-to-date environment.
At least, I still have the source code...
