very girly bear scene
« on: November 04, 2009, 11:23:12 am »

2nd scene of my own ever!
I only downloaded the anim8or preview yesterday and finally figured out how to do reflections after a few tries.  was kind of frustrating. but its cool.. even though it looks more like a mirror than water

add me and stuff, I need friends

Woah! a few days after downloading and you're already using it better than me!! nice whale :P.

I'm pretty sure you can reduce the reflection by turning down the specular in the material settings :)

Nice work for a second day of anim8or!

If you want to make it look more like water, you might want to add a bumpmap to the material (at 100% probably, depending on how rough the water is supposed to be, see the attached image)

ah! no dont give me credit for learning that fast.. I mean I downloaded the newest version yesterday, the preview. I had the original anim8or and have been learning it for a month ;) not as quick as learning in 2 days but I really feel like Im finally getting myself to push through! :D

yeah, I was looking around on how to get reflections for water and thats when I came across some vids on youtube of people using the preview.

hey thanks simon, I didnt think of that at all. thats gonna be fun to try out.  btw Ive seen some of your work and its really good.. think my fav so far

Very nice scene and the colors are "very girly".
As says Simon, a bumpmap can make the water look more like water.
Another trick I already use is to generate a terrain with terranim8or and combinate it with a bumpmap (and reflections of course). I was very happy with the result I get (see challenge 7, Old and rusty)
