Export 3DS animations
« on: October 05, 2009, 07:29:22 pm »

Has export 3ds animations ever been added to Anim8or? I know that somebody made a plugin that saved the frames as separate objects, but what about the whole animation sequence? I need it for my games.

i dont think so. everytime some1 asks they say no. but ive been looking into game design and you can use the different objects for animations in your game insteaad of using bones. i dont know exactly how it works but ive looked at 3 or 4 different game engines and that was a feature. i kinda gave up on it though cause i figured it would take forever to export all those objects. and on that note do you have a link to the 3ds exporter? and is there an obj one? (i think .3ds triangulates your mesh and i really dont see the reasoning behind it so i want to stick with quads.)

There are currently no animation exporters.  The closest thing I could think of is the ability to import into Cre8or, but I don't know if it can export as something else.  Perhaps it would be worth checking into.

Maybe you could be interested in Ani2Pov. It converts .an8 files to .ms3D and .smd
