the oddest thing...
« on: August 16, 2009, 02:09:38 am »

I logged into IM the other day, and someone had added me. I had no idea who, but decided to accept and just see what might come of it.

A couple days later the person showed, and turned out to be a young woman in Algeria looking for help with a project for her university studies, making 3D things for her.

I asked her where she got my addy, and she couldn't remember for sure, and I asked "anim8or.com?" and she said maybe. But she didn't have an account here, she just picked up my addy browsing the forums.

Anyway, I decided to work on this little project. It involves a gadget that detects gas like propane, etc., when it gets into a house - like if a stove flame goes out.

Has anyone else had this happen?

not yet, but did you get her phone number? :) just kidding

In oz algerians are mainly reknown for being asociated with send-me-your-bank number scams.

So it's nice to hear something else.

Well, Nigeria is the biggest source of that sort of business here.  So far I've had a number of nice little chitchats with her. She lives with her parents and two living brothers (a third died in an accident). Her father is a potter, her mother teaches french and arabic, and her brothers are university students, too.

Not once has she asked for my bank account info :P
