Robot - 1st work
« on: May 25, 2009, 08:35:21 am »

Hi everybody

I´ve been "playing" for a few days with Anim8r and this is one of my first decent results: a robot trying to be in the style of Asimov´s ones.

I´m not a good English speaker so is not easy for me to understand all the concepts in anim8rs menus and so, but I try to do my best.

Anyway, I´ll thank your comments and advices. Hope to be able to show a better model soon!

Thanks in advance,

Khaspah.-

I like it.  Nice textures, coloring and everything.  I'm new myself, so I have no advice.  But I look forward to seeing more from you.
One more thing...if you try modelling things from the real world, you may get more advice.  The members will know what it's supposed to look like and then be able to help you make it more realistic.

The first thing that pops into mind is that old "Chibi Robo" game.

Nice work!

Not bad for the first work.
You could add a little more edges to the head part to make it smoother.
And some more details to the robot body would make it more interesting.
For example now it is not clear how his legs are functioning... there is no obvious mechanism in the region of the knee which makes it look to cartoony.

Yeps, now that I´ve done a couple more things on Anim8or, seems that everything I do is quite cartoony... It maybe has something to do with the Peter Pan complex or so ...  ;D

Anyway, I´ve got this model "parked" somewhere, but I´ll try to give it a second look and improve it a bit... thanks for all your comments!!

My work tends toward "cartoony", too... which is funny, because I draw on paper very realistic... and cannot make "funny/cartoony" on paper... and I do best with "funny/cartoony" in anim8or.  Go figure.

When do we get to see some animation, Khaspah?

Um... All this talk about animation made me think, since he's new, maybe he doesn't know how to rig yet?

But anyway, nice job! I have a robot made for my fan game (it has a topic now) and yours looks good! You could use a bit more detail, and of course like everyone is saying animation, and it'll look fabulous!

Wow, you guys really know how encourage people...  ;D

3Dgeek11 is not far from the truth... the thing is I´m still learning the basics on modelling, and I haven´t done nothing of animation apart from linking several bones together  :)

But everytime I finish a model I feel I´d like to see it moving, so probably I´ll try to animate something very soon...

Thanks a lot for your comments and advices.

You're welcome. Always glad to help. =}

Also, if you need help on animating/rigging, you can post here and ask, obviously. =}
