Text to 3D
« on: April 15, 2009, 12:54:12 pm »

There was a thread here somewhere about text to 3D, but I can't find it.

Is there an easy way to turn text into a 3D model? So that the reference typed text can be extruded automatically. I think I used to use Cinema 4D to create instant text, but I have lost my serial number for it. (It was free on a magazine, and the serial number was in the magazine somewhere)

Thanks!

When I extrude/fill the text it is very triangulated, and then smoothing creates jagged edges. Is there an easy way to fill an object so that it is made up from horizontal splines. Then the subdivide is smooth. i normally add my own splines by hand, but it takes a long time. ZBrush can load an Anim8 Obj and automatically convert it to better standard splines, which are often squares. I just wonder if Anim8or is creating none standard triangles?
