Feature request: Hide faces when skinning
« on: March 21, 2009, 09:55:18 pm »

I'd like to be able to hide sertain faces when rigging a very complex mesh. For example, an alien with four mandables all parallel to each other, with thin stretches of skin inbetween all of them.... (not predator) http://xalener.deviantart.com/art/elite-head-study-116622233

The ability to hide faces would allow me to apply each mandable to it's own bone without accidentally selecting the inner mouth/ face/ neck/ any part of the body.

The ability to toggle the selection of back faces in figure mode would make this even easier, as would the ability to perform "select connected" when skinning.

It wouldn't just be an alien head, this could let people rig complex mechanical characters where all of the meshes are just in one object.

If you select an object and press the 'h' key it will hide it.

He wants a tool that hides seperate faces not objects. Which would be a very helpfull tool. Or maybe a 'back' and 'front' option like you have with selecting in point edit mode.
