Disaster TIME: WIPs
« on: November 22, 2008, 12:56:31 am »

Both animanon and cg-nation are having small 'challenges' at the moment.

Animanon has decided to split the sections into beginners and and intermediate or similar so if you want to join up feel free. You have to illustrate the concept "Time". Easy. Make a clock :)

With CG-nation you need to illustrate the concept Disaster. Most of the participants are using anim8or. See their website for more details on the concept. Easy> Blow something up :) What could be more fun???

This is   what I have so far .....

Here's one of my bits for the "TIME" comp

It's animated so the energy ball spins around the inside of the tube.
This is a small part to my time machine

here is something I am working on but I can't use ambient occulder and have it done this year. LOL! This was rendered with it turned on but it just takes way too long.

the first one AA set to 64 and ambient occulder

I started this last night at about 1 and it finished at 3:14 this afternoon.

The second one is AA set to 9 with no Ambient Occluder

Thanks falloffalot, I was worried the style of the cannon doen't fit the toy style, but it's an interesting mix. Nice to see the beginning of your work !

Kevin yes, anim8or all the way, except for the final render. :) The shadows under the cannon are interesting. HDRI lighting for a change gives that weird look.

Onespirt, great that you have joined the challenge. Those first renders have a nice antiqued feel.

Couple more updates. Haven't decided on the lighting for the temple yet. Any suggestions?

Yes the lightning of the temple is really cool, can I ask you a detail? How did you make the rays of light? I mean, it looks like real world where light illuminates floating dust, how did you achieve the effect? I guess those aren't really illuminated particles, don't think that would be affordable...
