texture question
« on: November 16, 2008, 05:16:29 pm »

i have trouble aplying textures that i make. the trouble is im not quite sure how the models in anim8or are measured. i use photoshop and i use pixels or inches. if someone can give me some sort of guideline it will help alot.

btw, i have tried to take a screenshot and "draw on my model". im looking for an alternative.

Have you read the material part of the manual: http://anim8or.com/manual/10_materials.html. This will answer most of your questions.

Have a look here, there is a  tutorial on UV texture and texture mapping which is what you are trying to do.

thats not my problem i know how to use the uv mapper.
my problem is when i make my textures  its either 2 big or 2 small. and when i go to size it with the uv mapper. i usually end up seeing the outlines of my texture.
say i make my text 8 inches by 8 inches. my texture will start to look right if i minimize it alot but its a little to much. the texture will make a 2nd texture and loop it. if u minimize it to the extremes u can end up with ur one texture hundeds of times.

im trying to be clear on what i mean but lets see if im getting my point across.

Btw that is a good site lynn

rellik, with UV mapper you should be 'rendering' out a wire of the layout out UV map.  This way you can simply open the image file and draw over it in photoshop so you'll know exactly the size you need the text to be.
