It is time for tea!
« on: November 03, 2008, 01:12:58 pm »

Yesterday i suddenly had an idea. An idea i wanted to test out. After an hour modelling/tweaking i had this small scene. Applied some ART, rendered and this is the result. It toke about 2 hours to render: 720p, AA16. I might going to add some post-effects, but it's fine for now.

i like it! but you should get a better background image, this one is a bit low on quality.

It isn't a background image, it's the fake HDRI i used. This is one of the things i needs to change.

It's alright but the lighting doesn't match the background. I'm guessing you used an inverted sphere/box and applied the image to it so that it catches the reflections? If so then you do need a higher quality image since I don't think there's a way to have the background excluded from the image while keeping the reflections. That or just use focal blur and apply heavy blur to anything behind the teapot and it'll look fine.

HDR applies to lighting, not reflection but I don't see any of that in your render...

As i said: there's alot to be done on this scene. Not even sure i will add/change anything. It's just a test on how the reflections would turn out.
The background is indeed really low res. The original plan was to add DOF blur to it so the background will be blurred away.
About the HDRI: you don't see any of it back in the image, that's because it's fake ;). I just used it to get the right reflections.

I might be back tomorrow with an update, see if i can find the time.

Oke, faster then expacted. Here is an update, i added some post effects using photoshop: DOF blur, some smoke effects and a little tweaking with the light setting. I'm not completly sadisfied with it, still the background looks ugly. I'm probably not going to work with it anymore and get back to mine other WIP: the robot thingy. So you can say this is a final.
