My wife's head model
« on: October 01, 2008, 06:36:51 pm »

As I have just discovered edge looping I thought I would do a quick model of the wife.
The left view looks just like her but the rest doesn't  ???

I used a couple of ref images, but TBH it's still pretty tricky to get it accurate. The eyes and nostrils are giving me some trouble just can't seem to get them right.
C & C welcome

One biggie to remember is that when modeling from a reference image of a human, you want to try to model in perspective mode, otherwise the model will look very odd when viewed in perspective mode.  Remember that the picture was took with perspective, since there's no button to turn it on or off in real life.  So it's more realistic to model with it on.
The edge looping looks like a strong start!

I saw you didn't finished the nose yet.
If you want to know how to finish the nose you can check out this tutorial: http://www.3dtotal.com/ffa/tutorials/max/joanofarc/joanmenu.asp
Look at the head part> page 4. Might be helpfull.

The eye topology looks fine so far, though you may not want to meet at a triangle in the inside of the eye there, perhaps you can use it to define the eye a bit more.
But remember you want to model the eyelid and any bags or anything under the eye.  For the eye you'll want to add spheres where the eyeballs go and shape the eyelids around them.

As for the nose, that's a tricky one.  Really I'd just advise you study good topology from other models for this, and see what works and doesn't work for them.
Here's a wonderful site that will definitely help you
