bug report 97c
« on: September 14, 2008, 11:12:11 pm »

OK, I'm not sure if it is a bug. It may be intended that way purposely.

It is related to the lights again, but unsure exactly why it happens. Might have to do with the Ray parameters soft size being up to 300, as it doesn't show this at low values. Anyway the randomness appears where there shouldn't be any shadow ( in the sky of reflection)

Note that I have cast shadows but not recieve.......

I can deal with it though :)

Another thing I noticed is that in object mode, I am unable to see the Object/Axis.

Are you using a glossyreflector or glossy attribute?

:-[ It happens to me too, if the object reflects, the shadows coming from another objects don't appear in materials that reflect (either with environment map), just the ground or a normal object under that shadow

This is not unexpected.  Area lights also cause softening of hilights, not just shadows.  That is what's happening in this image.

A size of 300 will need a large number of samples to reduce the noise for infinite lights and local lights that are close relative to their size.
