i just down loaded the new version and i wanna edit sonic adventurte dx so like how do i open the pvm file

you can,anim8or only takes.an8 and .ans.i bet (dare i say it) milkshape can.

Is there a convert to milkshape option?
I am probably going to need something like that soon.
Otherwise i can probably just convert to 3DS, and then Into Milkshape
