Just a few problems ive been having, please help :)
« on: August 13, 2008, 09:27:22 pm »

hey, ive been avidly using anim8or for about 2 weeks or so now, and i few problems i have is...... how do i change the checkered floor in "scene mode"; instead of the black and white checkered floor how would i add something like a carpet or dirt? i have terranim8or but thats different, thats a landscape

and also, i cant seem to get line modeling down, ive made a few crapy things, filled them, and extruded them, but i want to model a Gibson Les Paul(a guitar) and when i load the reference image i cant see the lines i draw    :(

and also is there a such thing as a "texture pack" like just something that has a bunch of different textures that i can apply to stuff? and if so where can i download it???

well i have about 30 other questions but ill keep it to these few, hahah, well thanks for thehelp and all comments are appreciated

                                                     Thanks!!!

For answers to some of your questions have a look at : http://www.3d-anim8.com/tutorials/tutorial.asp

For textures search this forum, there are plenty of posts with links to sites that offer them and search Google for "seamless textures"

For your reference image, you may have to
a) change the image in a paint program to a different color so that the white lines you draw are better visible
b) move your ref image further back so that what you draw is in front of it

hi, alot of questions I see. The ground grid in scene mode can be switch of under setting>environment and the uncheck 'ground grid'. Then make a simple plane in object mode: Build>primitive>n-gon set 4 sides. Give it a material and go build> add object in scene mode.

There alot of texture packs the be found on the internet some free some not.
Free:
http://www.cgtextures.com/
http://www.spiralgraphics.biz/packs/download.htm
http://studio.planethalflife.gamespy.com/textures.asp

Pay:
total textures: http://www.3dtotal.com/

If you simple google for a while you will find nice textures yourself easily. Same for answers to many of your questions can be found in the manual.

as for the les paul i made one once it was kind of a cheat, dont know how much detail you want. but what i did was; get a picture of a les paul. then texture it onto a squar in front veiw. trace the outline of your gitar with splines( you cant close it yet) extrude along Z. now its a mesh. now you can close it with the add edge tool. then fill holes and put the picture on the mesh(youll have to move it around with the UV tool) and you have one fake gitar. dont know if this is what you want, but if your trying to lern splines anyway it might a place to start
