Strange behavior in Celestia
« on: July 26, 2008, 12:10:19 pm »

I use Celestia, the space sim. I downloaded some 3ds models from the net, put them in anim8or, and retextured them. When redered in anim8or they look fine. When viewed in Celestia they have transparent parts. I have checked all the materials and textures, all the trans are set to 1.
I just don't get it.
Thanx

I would guess that some of the normals are reversed.  That means that celestia is looking at the back of the faces and not the front, and games tend to not render the backs of faces.  So, try selecting all the faces in anim8or with the drag select tool, if those faces show up blue, then their normals need to be flipped, you do this by selecting the blue faces and press "shift + n"
